4 Habit Changing Diet Hacks

Making sweeping changes to your diet and exercise routine all at once can be challenging and overwhelming. While the New Year is a great time to reset and focus on your health, it’s important to set achievable goals and make incremental changes to change your habits over time but making diet changes doesn’t just mean supercharging your willpower, so here are four easy habit changing diet hacks that will help you to become a healthier, happier you!

1. Quit Drinking Sugar

Stop buying sugary drinks at the grocery store. If they aren’t in your fridge, you won’t drink them. Instead, choose options like carbonated or flavored water, or try adding fresh-cut lemons, cucumber and mint, or berries to a bottle of water and keep cold in the refrigerator. When you reach for something to drink, you will actually hydrate your body, rather than drinking empty calories and sugar.

2. Exercise in the Morning

Before going to sleep, set out your workout clothes and shoes next to the bed so they are ready when you wake up. As you drift to sleep, visualize waking up, putting on your sportswear, and getting your body moving.

3. Gamify Your Greens

Try gamifying your greens! Challenge yourself to create this healthy habit by making eating veggies a requirement for your afternoon coffee or snack, before you cook dinner, or even before you sit down to watch your favorite show.

4. Burn More Calories

Instead of meeting a friend at the coffee shop where there are sugary pastries, get your coffees to-go and make it a walking hangout instead, or skip the coffee (where flavored lattes contain hundreds of calories), and meet at a park or somewhere walkable in the neighborhood instead.
