Lemon, Cucumber & Mint Detox Water
Have you spent the winter eating lots of wintertime comfort foods and now you are feeling weighed down? It may be time to consider detoxifying your digestive system and this detox water recipe is full of goodness! It’s a natural detoxifier, an immune booster, it improves your digestive health and is hydrating and refreshing! Lemons are a natural detoxifier. They help to cleanse the body by flushing out toxins, while also boosting your immune system and aiding better digestion. Mint is good for digestion and provides a touch of sweetness without the sugar and cucumbers are 96% water, so they provide a subtle flavor and extra hydration. I make this for myself three or four time a year to detox my digestive system. Here’s how to make it:
Ingredients:
- 2-3 Quarts Water (bottled or filtered)
- 2 Lemons, Sliced
- ½ of a Cucumber, Sliced
- 10-12 Mint Leaves
Directions:
- Put all of the ingredients into a large pitcher.
- Allow to steep overnight in the fridge to release all the flavors.
Tips & Alternatives:
Chilled water can be a bit of a shock to your digestive system, especially if you are drinking it first thing in the morning. A good tip for this drink is once it has steeped overnight in the fridge, pour it into a glass or bottle and wait until it reaches room temperature before drinking it, or add a little hot water.
